We have revamped parts of the homepage here at ITslaves and several companies are highlighted in the "Companies Ranking" portlet.

Coming week we also will launch a point system where you can earn points for various activities. The points earned can be exchanged for useful gear, courses and more. The members with the highest scores will also be listed on the homepage.

Good thing with a portal solution, like the Java based Liferay open source product we are using for ITslaves, is that you can easily deploy new portlets, visual "building blocks" to any page. We are doing this on the homepage for ITslaves in the coming days, changing its appearance step-by-step.

Since we believe that our Company Ranking section is our number one value, we want to improve the visibility and attractivity of that area further.

We have decided to start this blog at ITslaves, where various folks from the back office team can post their current experiences in the IT industry and specifically air their thoughts, personal views and share info on what is going on backstage at the IT slaves community.

We started out with ITslaves back in May 2008 and it is good seeing the community taking shape. I believe we are going to see many more activities in the community in the coming months, not limited to contests, but further hard core articles and interesting war stories from the dark dungeons of both smaller and larger engineering companies.
